Right-Wing Extremist Who Attacked Counterprotester Charged With Assault
Shuping Lai Jonnes was charged with assault on the anniversary of January 6, 2021.
A far-right extremist who used a flagpole to brutally assault a Washington, DC activist was charged with assault by the Metropolitan Police Department, according to a report exclusively obtained by Permanent Record.
Shuping Lai Jonnes, 63, was taken into custody by police after assaulting activist Patricia Eguino, who was counterprotesting a rally celebrating the Capitol insurrection. Jonnes, who lives in Ashburn, Virginia, was attending the rally on the fifth anniversary.
Video shows Jonnes repeatedly assaulting Eguino as a mob of fascists scream “USA.”

Jonnes did not respond to a request for comment.
