On Sunday, August 23, far-right extremists are planning an explicitly racist rally at the Southern California Islamic Center, located at 434 S. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90020. The rally is scheduled for 1:00pm.
The organizer, Eoin Richard Connolly, recently attempted to film inside the mosque, but was asked to leave.
Connolly refers to members of the historic institution as “jihadist sympathizers and Antifa terrorists” on Instagram, while simultaneously promoting, “Respect. Dialogue. Community” on the flyer. The protest appears similar to one recently organized by right-wing agitator Jake Lang in Dearborn, Michigan.
As of this writing, Connolly’s Instagram post has garnered 402 likes and 30 comments, at least some of which suggest some protesters are planning to bring weapons; however, no firearms were explicitly referenced, only mace. It’s unclear how many people may attend, including potential counterprotesters.
