On April 30, 2024 large groups of masked men consisting of right-wing fascists who align themselves with the Israeli government, entered UCLA’s campus and brutalized a pro-Palestine encampment. The encampment had come together just five days prior, in a protest against Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza.

I am Jewish, my grandparents were Orthodox and I come from a religious family. I did not know anyone like this growing up.

To see these psychopaths brutalizing a group of students, just because they didn’t like them makes me sick. The truth is, I hate them on a deep, personal level.

In the days which followed, a group of us, many of whom worked on identifying the January 6 attackers, put together a new research group and began to identify members of the UCLA mob. We established some basic rules at the beginning that we would share information, but no one could tell anyone else what to do with that information once we had it.

Eventually, those names made their way to the media - CNN did an outstanding investigation which directly led to the arrest of Edan On, an 18-year-old man who donned a Michael Myers-style Halloween mask as he terrorized the students. Take a look at this video taken by journalist Jack Ross that night. It’s one of the most harrowing examples of an out-of-control mob I’ve ever seen.

I’ve spent the last couple weeks writing various versions of this piece, but none have really captured what I’ve wanted to say. On April 30, a great evil took place and justice has still not been done. Permanent Record will continue to investigate the circumstances behind the attack.

I arrived at “No Kings” 3 in Downtown Los Angeles at around 2:00 pm. I was initially ambivalent about the protests, as despite everything that we do, the Democrats don’t back us up. But it’s important to keep fighting.

There were thousands of people who attended, all united in one goal - turning back the tide of fascism. Will it work? That remains to be seen, but we can’t give up now.

Fundamentally, what’s required is a no-holds-barred, tactical deployment against fascists in general. The gloves are off.

Still, I think there is hope - as always the power is with the people. So let’s get on with this.

Permanent Record is not posting the photographs included in Essayli’s post, because they are student protesters engaged in lawful First Amendment activity. The photographs do not back up Essayli’s statements. The original post can still be viewed on X.

On Friday, media outlets in Los Angeles reported that federal officers clashed with student protesters during an anti-ICE march, but few details have yet been provided. No independent confirmation exists that any federal officers were injured. Essayli’s post also bizarrely states, “it appears schoolchildren are now being deployed during school hours to attack federal law enforcement,” raising further questions about the veracity of his other statements.

Essayli illegally served as the United States Attorney in the Central District of California for months, according a ruling by a federal judge, though he remains the top prosecutor in Los Angeles under a new title, “First Assistant United States Attorney.” Immediately following the bizarre post, the replies filled up with targeted harassment and hate against the protesters.

The Department of Justice did not respond to a request for comment about Essayli.

I would ordinarily never post something like this to Permanent Record but as there’s a strong possibility he will delete this video, I feel there’s a public interest in preserving his obvious racism.

Shuping Lai Jonnes, 63, was taken into custody by police after assaulting activist Patricia Eguino, who was counterprotesting a rally celebrating the Capitol insurrection. Jonnes, who lives in Ashburn, Virginia, was attending the rally on the fifth anniversary.

Video shows Jonnes repeatedly assaulting Eguino as a mob of fascists scream “USA.”

Jonnes did not respond to a request for comment.

The filing, which appears to have been approved by a judge, states “defendants may see and review CI [confidential informant] Materials only in the presence of defense counsel, and defense counsel shall ensure that defendants are never left alone with any CI Materials” - laying out in 9 pages how none of the defendants - Audrey Ileene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante James Anthony-Gaffield, or Tina Lai, may write down or in any way try to record information related to the undercover informant, while participating in their defense.

According to the initial criminal complaint filed against the four, the group “contemplated planting backpacks with “ieds,” around Southern California on New Year’s Eve. The informant has worked with the FBI since mid-2021.

I do not know what model of camera was used, but any entry-level model by Sony, Canon, or Nikon should work fine.

From this single image, a researcher can determine the following critical details:

• The man on the left wears a brown vest, labeled, “Bureau Of Prisons” with an identification number RCH-0, partially obscured.

He has a distinctive tattoo on his right hand.

He wears a camouflage beanie, with a logo that appears to read, “Drivers.”

In fifteen minutes, I found the logo of a minor league hockey team from Berlin, New Hampshire which operated from 2015-2017 called, “The Berlin Riverdrivers.”

He wears glasses.

On his left hand, he wears a silver-colored ring.

Because of the critical details available in the photograph, we have enough information to identify this man.

I’m sure the mainstream media has never put it in quite those words - because I’ve read as much about January 6 as any one person can.

On that day I was at home. I had recently become a professional journalist, and was investigating the radical right in America, but had no idea what they had planned, as opposed to the researchers I would meet later. Every one of them knew what was going to happen on January 6, as did at least one Department of Homeland Security (DHS) intelligence analyst who tried to stop the attack.

I can see it in my mind’s eye, though the names would only be revealed later - Robert Keith Packer, the terrorist wearing a “Camp Auschwitz” shirt, Lisa Eisenhart and Eric Munchel, the mother-and-son terrorists with zip ties, ready to murder any legislator they saw, and Matthew Thomas Purse, the terrorist they called “Mr. Extra Creepy,” who went after journalists. I can see all of them, though it was only thanks to the Sedition Hunters that they were ever identified at all.

I am also a Sedition Hunter, something I rarely talk about. In my dreams, all of the terrorists were held accountable - ten years minimum for entering the building, and hopefully, the death penalty for committing treason - but that’s not what happened.

Since the pardons, the traitors have only gone on to sexually assault children, commit home invasion robberies, try to kill more police, and continue their aberrant, antisocial behavior towards American society.

We did the best we could, but we are led by cowards, who let our work, the work of the Sedition Hunters, go to waste. Even before the pardons, the January 6th Committee could have pushed much harder to hold Trump accountable for his crimes, dug deeper to investigate January 6, leaked critical information when they were stonewalled, and engaged in any number of “outside of the box” tactics to bring these terrorists to justice, but they just couldn’t do it. By nature, Democrats are cowards.

Still, I’m proud of the work that we did. One day, when our country needs our help again, we’ll be back.

I cannot control that Trump kidnapped Maduro. What I can control is what I choose to write about it - or don’t write.

Media outlets including BBC, AP, The New York Times and CBS News are falsely describing this as “Trump captured Maduro.” That is textbook propaganda, designed to manipulate the public. We have kidnapped the President of Venezuela, and overthrown his government. It’s just that simple. I don’t know why these news outlets lie so much - I guess they love war more than the truth.

I started Permanent Record because, after years of seeing my own words manipulated by cowardly editors afraid to lose their jobs, I thought I’d rather write for myself. Whether I built up an audience or not, I wanted to see my words on the page, not someone else’s interpretation. I’m glad I did - though I don’t make much money, no one can force me to write the headline, “Trump Captures Nicholas Maduro.”

The reporters, Ken Dilanian and Carol Leonnig, wrote earlier today, “the suspect [Brian Cole Jr.] has been linked to statements in support of anarchist ideology,” providing no additional evidence to back up this claim. The attempted pipe bombing took place just prior to thousands of violent far-right fascists storming the U.S. Capitol, making it somewhat unlikely that an anarchist perpetrated the attempted pipe bombing; nor does the story at any point provide the wider context, that since the attack, far-right fascists, who are wholly responsible for the January 6 terrorist attack, have frequently lied about their role to divert blame from the truth.

In that case, D’Amato’s attorney, Scott Spindel, attempted to persuade a Los Angeles Superior Court judge that D’Amato was in the hospital without access to a cell phone and could not attend the required hearing. The judge did not believe Spindel and immediately issued an arrest warrant.

In the civil matter, which occurred nearly a week later, a different attorney for D’Amato, Steven Tamer, produced a letter written on Los Angeles Downtown Medical Center letterhead which says, “To whom it may concern,” and, “Anthony is currently an inpatient here at LADMC….it is not clear when he will be discharged.” You can read the letter here. D’Amato was arrested by Los Angeles police detectives on February 20 and charged with twenty-six counts of alleged stalking and violating a restraining order related to content he produced on his channel, “Zero Dark Tony,” targeting an anti-Scientology activist. He was initially released on $50,000 bail, which has been raised to $500,000 by the judge.

D’Amato, Scott Spindel, and Steven Tamer did not respond to requests for comment from Permanent Record.

For the first time, this publication has obtained over 30 pages of previously unseen court records detailing allegations against D’Amato, which are so disturbing that as a warning to readers, they contain statements of explicit violence and targeted harassment towards an activist protesting the Church of Scientology.

The motions, which were filed on October 6 and October 28, as prosecutors attempted to have D’Amato’s $50,000 bail revoked in connection with his initial arrest earlier this year for allegedly stalking this activist, show a pattern of threatening to sexually assault him, kill him and silence anyone who supported him over D’Amato. According to the filings, members of his audience also targeted the activist.

Throughout this case, as well as in other civil cases involving D’Amato, one of the more bizarre aspects has been the fact that all the people he targets are critics of the Church of Scientology - something which has never been fully explored or understood.

Journalist Ford Fischer’s video actually shows ICE agents attempting to “snipe” protestors from behind a fence - which I never saw while covering the unrest in Los Angeles. It does illustrate a certain point, however, that Los Angeles was a training ground for what’s happening in Chicago.

At the Metropolitan ICE facility in downtown Los Angeles, where the nightly protest continues, it took months for them to install the flood lights and fencing, which were installed just days into Chicago’s protest.

ICE is learning what works and what doesn’t - but so are the protesters.

24 year-old Eyal Shalom, who brutally assaulted pro-Palestine activists and journalists during one of the worst mob attacks on a college campus in American history, has agreed to attend anti-bias training and group therapy as restitution for his actions at the University of California at Los Angeles last year.

Throughout Permanent Record’s continuing investigation into the attack, which occurred on April 30, 2024 when a masked mob of counterprotestors entered the UCLA campus after dark and violently assaulted a pro-Palestine encampment, one of the most bizarre elements has been the attempts to clarify the status of the Shalom case.

Permanent Record has repeatedly requested Shalom’s status, only to be told “Eyal Shalom was not charged,” despite the court’s computer system showing a request for an arrest warrant on felony use of tear gas, and in a follow up email last January that no new cases were in progress.

The news of Shalom’s status only resurfaced after Dolores Quintana, the reporter he attacked the night of April 30, posted on her X account that, “Eyal Shalom is in LA and has been to court,” after being notified by Hochman’s office.

In a statement, the Los Angeles District Attorney only advised, “the arrest warrant is public record,” while declining to answer more specific questions about the case.

A request for comment sent via Shalom’s defense attorney was not returned.

I’ve watched our “free” press, which has been terrorized by far-right extremists like Mr. Kirk, to the point where they fail to do their jobs; to tell the truth about who he was, and that while no one deserves to be murdered, it does not help anyone to lionize him; and knew I had to write something. Kirk ran the far-right “debate” scam which is ubiquitous on the right - facing off with a much less experienced college student, he would successfully browbeat them into looking dumb. Then he would publish the video, and everyone would laugh at them.

He did not deserve to be assassinated by a still-unknown perpetrator, and I hope that individual is arrested and charged with murder.

But I personally won't miss him.

The “2025 Heroes of Conscience Awards Dinner,” sponsored by the little-known American Freedom Alliance, honors disgraced legal professional John Eastman, who attempted to overthrow the government four years ago, as well as notorious bigot Robert Spencer, who was cited over sixty times in a manifesto by Norwegian mass shooter Anders Behring Breivik. The event is scheduled for Friday. Eastman is currently in the final stages of being disbarred from the practice of law for his actions on January 6, 2021.

Mamet won a Pulitzer Prize in 1984 for a play about real estate hustlers called “Glengarry Glen Ross.”

We fought a war against Nazis. We arrested and convicted them of war crimes. Now, some of them feel so emboldened, they openly engage in this activity under their own names.

This followed multiple viral posts on the same platform by neo-Nazis Chelsea Lynn Skoby and account “Kasey Lynae” who posted similar photos while engaged in various mundane tasks.

McAnally, nor the Nebraska GOP have yet responded to a request for comment. McAnally was also photographed at the January 6 insurrection.

Following that, far-right researcher Ben Lorber immediately identified “Connor,” as the influential fascist livestreamer known as, “Pinesap.”

This individual voluntarily attended a public forum to advocate on behalf of fascism. His opponent, a prominent American journalist, advocated for his beliefs under his real name, yet Connor was not honest with Hassan about his background.

It was in the public interest he be named.

First I utilized the facial recognition tool PimEyes, plugging in a photo of “Pinesap” from the Jubilee interview.

This returned results from a website “ducatholics.com,” which immediately began deleting all photos of “Pinesap” after I published my investigation online.

Frustratingly though, none of these pictures included any names. No matter.

Next, I spent hours watching Pinesap’s livestreams. Similarly - nothing.

But I kept going. And eventually, I found it.

While searching social media accounts operated by ”DU Catholics,” I discovered a now-deleted Instagram post identifying their former board member, Connor James Estelle, as “Pinesap.”

In the United States of America, you are free to hate. But you are not free from the consequences. Remember that.
